You will work in a fun and educational environment together with other volunteers and children. You will have the opportunity to transfer your own cooking knowledge to the children, teaching them to cook and develop new skills in a playful way. You will receive a volunteer contract and remuneration. Moreover, you can participate in courses and training as a volunteer.
Job tasks and duties
'Taste the season' is a children's activity in the Oosterpark district, where children aged eight to 13 enjoy cooking and eating together. While playing, they learn about seasonal fruits and vegetables. The children receive guidance in working together with each other and in handling the materials in the kitchen safely and responsibly.
Together with a member of the WIJ team, you take care of the cooking class every week on Mondays from 14:00 to 17:00 at Bie de Buuf in the Oosterpark neighbourhood.
- You guide children (8-13 years old) while preparing dishes; from starter, main course and dessert. The children get to taste everything.
- You will explain cooking techniques and ingredients in an understandable way.
- You will provide a safe and clean working environment.
- You encourage cooperation among the children.
- You contribute ideas on recipes and ingredients.
- You support cleaning up and washing up after the activity.
Job skills and qualities
- You are enthusiastic and get on well with children from different cultures.
- You enjoy cooking and sharing cooking skills.
- You are patient, caring and creative.
- You are able to create a safe and pleasant atmosphere.
- Experience working with children (e.g. in childcare or as a volunteer) is a plus, but not required.
