You can be of significance to vulnerable people who cannot (or can no longer) represent themselves properly. Mentoring is a legal measure designed for people who can no longer represent their personal interests. These people (clients) are vulnerable and they deserve protection by someone who stands by them formally. As a board member, you create the conditions for the 100-plus volunteers to do their work well.

Job tasks and duties

  • As a board member, you manage the organisation together with other board members. The board sets policy and is ultimately responsible. Each board member brings his/her own expertise. Your expertise as treasurer is in the field of finance.
  • You are in regular contact with the administration office and the administrative assistant of Mentoring North. You will also be responsible for preparing a budget, financial reports and an annual report.
  • Much of the administration is in the hands of an administrative office such as managing bank accounts, salaries, making payments, accounting for receipts and expenses and preparing the balance sheet.

Minimum education level: hbo/wo

Job skills and qualities

  • Financial knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting software.
  • Administrative, policy-oriented working and thinking level.
  • Affinity with the objective of the foundation.
  • Knowledge of healthcare is a plus.
  • Affinity, knowledge/experience with a social organisation of volunteers.
  • Average availability of 4 hours per week.
  • Integrity regarding (side) activities and (financial) conflicts of interest.

Extra information

The working area of Mentoring Noord stretches across Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe.The organisation consists of two part-time coordinators and over 100 volunteers. Mentoring Noord is one of 11 foundations in the Netherlands and works together within the umbrella Mentoring Netherlands.
