Interesting about this job
Do you enjoy playing games with older people and can you create a cosy atmosphere where everyone feels safe? Then this job is for you!
It is an independent job where you can get a lot of satisfaction and where you are socially engaged.
Job tasks and duties
We are immediately looking for an empathetic and patient volunteer to supervise game mornings. This takes place once a month in Forum Library De Wijert. This involves playing games from the BrainBieb collection over a chat and a cup of coffee or tea. The social component is also important here.
BreinBieb covers the whole spectrum of remembering and forgetting: from fun themes such as understanding and keeping memory 'fit' to serious topics such as dementia and informal care. You will find books and games for activating and keeping memory fit. The aim of the game mornings is to offer visitors an activity where they can keep their memory fit and offer people connection and conviviality.
What will you do:
- What will you do?
- You will put people at ease and provide a warm welcome with coffee and tea.
- You will prepare a meeting and get the materials ready.
- You choose a game with the visitors and supervise play.
- You keep in touch with the participants and inform them of changes.
- You are available for at least 1 half-day to 2 hours per month. Game mornings take place on every 3rd Thursday of the month from 10:30 - 11:30 am at Forum Library De Wijert.
Job skills and qualities
- You have some experience and affinity in dealing with (older) people with memory problems.
- You are patient, empathetic and contribute to a safe and pleasant atmosphere in the group.
- You enjoy performing a pivotal role independently and can empathise with the target group.
- You enjoy playing games.
- You have the intention to commit yourself permanently to the game morning so that visitors can count on a familiar face.
- You coordinate with a regular staff member.
