There are over 2,000 people with dementia in the city of Groningen. Most of them live independently and need help in the long run. Sometimes there is an informal carer nearby, sometimes not. Thanks to informal carers, professional help and volunteers, people with dementia can continue living at home for a long time.
As a mediator, you will become the intermediary for people with dementia and their informal carers and their future buddies.
As an mediator, you will be supported by a project coordinator, you will of course receive appropriate training, you will be covered by third-party insurance.
You will be doing very meaningful work, which will give you a good feeling and appreciation that cannot be expressed in money.
You will be part of a friendly team with other volunteer coordinators, we meet once a month for consultations and exchanging experiences.
Job tasks and duties
- You conduct intake interviews with participants of the Volunteers & Dementia project.
- You meet new volunteers together with the project coordinator.
- You ensure a good match between volunteers and participants, and you introduce the new volunteer to the relevant participant.
- You support and supervise your paired volunteers.
- You help organise theme meetings and think about PR work.
Minimum education level: mbo
Job skills and qualities
- You are a real rule-based.
- You have an affinity with dementia.
- You want to work together in a small team.
- You have an open attitude and are flexible.
- You are available for two half-days a week.
- You want to commit to this project for a longer period of time.
- You speak good Dutch and function at mbo/hbo level.
- Working with a computer is not a problem for you.
