Lichtjesdag Groningen organises a commemoration for all children who have died every year on the second Sunday in December.
This happens worldwide, a chain of light is then created by lighting hundreds of candles, and at 7pm the song Precious Child is heard.
It is impressive to be able to contribute to this as a volunteer and to experience the feeling of togetherness.
Job tasks and duties
Mostly the work starts after the summer and increases in intensity as the December date approaches.
Organising is a big job and you can join us by including:
- Buying candles and tea lights.
- Ordering sponsorship.
- Arrange market stalls.
- Arrange music.
- Applicate permits with the municipality.
- Direct volunteers to help only on the day.
- Arrange catering.
- Arrange sound and bandstand.
- Otherwise, you can choose to help with PR work etc.
- Or help with secretarial work.
Minimum education level: mbo
Job skills and qualities
We are looking for people with life experience and affinity with the target group and who can handle computers.
