Job tasks and duties
You will spend an hour a week with this family. The parents themselves cannot properly support the child (seven-year-old boy) in language development. In practice, you talk a lot with the child, read to them or read together and play language games. It's all about attention and fun. Because it is outside school hours and in the child's free time. We have yet to meet the family ourselves, but we hope to interest you in this during the Christmas holidays. One of the parents is present.
Minimum education level: hbo/wo
Job skills and qualities
You speak and read Dutch well yourself, are interested in children and would like to contribute to language development in a playful and relaxed way. If possible, you also involve parents in the reading hour. Furthermore, you are able to reflect on your role as a reading aloud volunteer. You are available for a longer period of time, at least six months but preferably the period of a year. Obviously if it sounds.
Extra information
You become a reading aloud volunteer at Humanitas. A volunteer coordinator will have an introductory meeting with you and the family and accompany you to the pairing. This coordinator also stays involved in the background and is available as a source of questions. Furthermore, you will have an introductory meeting with other (newly started) reading aloud volunteers. And online training courses are available for you to help you carry out your volunteer work properly.
