Humanitas department Groningen City provides services in the areas of welfare, housing and care. Volunteers are at the heart of these activities. Our aim is for everyone to be able to participate fully in society. Every year, around 3,000 volunteers give 6,000 participants a helping hand on their way to self-reliance.

In Haren lives a Syrian family including a 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl who are learning Dutch. This is not going so well yet. Their parents cannot help. Do you live in the Haren area and do you have an hour every week to give these children some language fun in a pleasant way? They will be extremely grateful!

Job tasks and duties

A reading aloud volunteer, you will spend an hour every week with this family. You will chat with the children, read and talk to them about books and/or do language games.

Job skills and qualities

Affinity with children and with reading.
