The contact circle is a group of people who form a circle together by briefly contacting each other by phone every day to ask if everything is going well. The aim of the circle is to ensure that a participant never goes unnoticed for more than a 24-hour period. In addition, the circle also acts as an information channel in times of need.
Groningen City already has a well-run contact circle. In addition, we want to set up a second circle to reach even more people. To keep the new circle running smoothly, we are looking for a coordinator. You will eventually work together with 3 to 4 other volunteers. Are you interested?
As a volunteer, you contribute to the work of the Red Cross. You get the chance to develop your talents and work together with motivated and enthusiastic volunteers and staff. The Red Cross reimburses travel expenses and ensures you are insured while carrying out your work. The Red Cross also provides courses and/or training to help you perform your job. At the Red Cross we work according to our Fundamental Principles and Code of Conduct.
Job tasks and duties
- You will actively work to publicise the circle and thus recruit new participants and volunteers in the province of Groningen.
- You conduct intake interviews with new participants, register them and manage any waiting lists.
- You are the link with the volunteers who start and close the circles on a daily basis and organise a quarterly work meeting.
- You take care of administration, monitor of meetings and ensure that work agreements are kept.
- You organise an annual social gathering with all participants and volunteers.
- You are the link between the Red Cross and the contact circle participants and facilitators.
- You keep the district informed of progress.
Minimum education level: lbo/mavo/vmbo
Job skills and qualities
Our ideal candidate:
- Has a friendly way of communicating and a good command of the Dutch language both verbally and in writing.
- Senses what is going on in a group of volunteers and makes this negotiable.
- Keeps a professional distance in combination with showing commitment.
- Has an affinity with self-reliance, takes initiative and stands firm in his/her shoes.
- Is available for about 4 hours a week and for a longer period.
- Supports the objectives of the Red Cross.
Extra information
In every neighbourhood lives someone who has little contact with their surroundings. Someone without a large social network. Such a person is vulnerable when something goes wrong. In an emergency, someone may have no safety net. With the Red Cross contact circle, people do not go unnoticed.
