You and your dog will come to visit a female client. She loves animals very much and would very much like it if you come once a week for a walk with the dog, have a cuddle with the dog and a chat with each other. It is a rewarding volunteer job where you can make a positive contribution to someone's life.
Job tasks and duties
In consultation with the client, you visit once a week with your dog and together you go for a walk, have a chat, the dog gets extra attention and the client is completely happy that you visit.
Minimum education level: lbo/mavo/vmbo
Job skills and qualities
- The dog must like extra attention and must be sweet and reliable and you yourself must be really interested in people with a mental health background.
- Able to have a chat.
- To be a people person by nature.
- And it is very important that you keep the appointment made with the client.
Extra information
The BW is a sheltered housing facility for adults who need counselling based on psychiatric problems. As a volunteer, you really make a positive contribution to someone's life. you help them break through social isolation. Contact with animals is often much easier than with people and so it also provides an entrance to contact with the owner and, as a result, with other people.
