Interesting about this job
Many people struggle with their administration and finances. They can no longer manage on their own and get into debt. They need someone who patiently listens, thinks with them, provides practical help and encouragement, such as a SchuldHulpMaatje. The trained and certified SchuldHulpMaatjes at our organisation are supervised by a coordinator. Are you that committed coordinator?
Debt HelpMates make a difference. How? By helping solve financial problems and teaching these people to stand on their own two feet for future challenges. After all, prevention is better than cure.
In order to understand the role of the coordinator, let's first tell you a bit about the SchuldHulpMaatjes.
What does a SchuldHulpMaatje do?"
The aim of the support is for someone in debt to learn to solve their own problems as much as possible. Depending on the situation, this can be a long road. What does a SchuldHulpMaatje do?
First of all, a buddy gives someone hope that a chaotic - sometimes even hopeless - situation can be put right again. This provides relief and allows someone to think clearly again.
Then a buddy creates order out of chaos by creating an overview of income and expenses, and by listing unpaid bills. In doing so, he/she uses useful tools, such as an administration folders, a household book and a budget.
Then a buddy will make a plan for resolution with the person seeking help. Usually, a buddy finds it a sport to look for ways to save or increase the aid applicant's income. Sometimes, for example, a person may not know about a financial arrangement. A SchuldHulpMaatje supports by finding this out and applying for the facilities.
Further, as a coordinator you get to know many new people, are part of a close-knit team, and gain a lot of (new) knowledge and experience; it is good for your own development.
The work at SchuldHulpMaatje Gemeente Groningen gives energy and inspiration. Together it works.
Job tasks and duties
What does a SchuldHulpMaatje Coordinator do?
Our SchuldHulpMaatjes accompany a person seeking help during an often intensive process. But they cannot do it alone; they need good guidance, can often use a sounding board, and sometimes need guidance themselves. That's the job of our SchuldHulpMaatje coordinator.
As a coordinator, you will not only deal with the intake process of those seeking help, but also with the intake of (new) buddies. Together with your colleague coordinator, you supervise a group of SchuldHulpMaatjes. You are their sounding board and coach. Together with the team, you are interlocutor for local parties, such as civil servants and local institutions.
Together with the other coordinator Ton van den Heuvel, you consult which part of the week you are available for this voluntary work.
Indepth knowledge of debt issues is a plus, but we offer you sufficient training in which you can gain this knowledge. Moreover, in the beginning you will also spend some time with the other coordinator or with one of the SchuldHulpMaatjes so that you can learn what the assistance looks like.
Minimum education level: mbo
