Interesting about this job
Do you enjoy helping a child enjoy language and reading more? Would you like to make a difference in the life of a child?
A reading aloud volunteer will help to reduce the language deficits of children in a playful, relaxed way and increase their chances for the future. Humanitas offers you training, theme evenings and tailor-made support from a volunteer coordinator.
Job tasks and duties
A reading aloud volunteer will visit a family's home for an hour a week. You will playfully help the child or several children of primary school age with their language development and introduce them to the joy of reading. You can do this by reading aloud, talking about the story and their own experiences and playing games.
The parents are present during the reading hour and you involve them as much as possible.
We are at the pairing and you can come to us for questions. There is an introductory meeting and optional themed meetings for knowledge and exchange.
Our read-aloud volunteers are active throughout the city. You indicate in which neighbourhoods you want to read aloud and what age you prefer.
Job skills and qualities
