Our Visitor Centre Reitdiep acts as a gateway to the Reitdiep area and is freely accessible during opening hours. With films, photos, exhibitions and other means, the story of the origins and management of the centuries-old cultural landscape is told and information is provided about the nature developments in the area. The visitor centre is opened by Team Reitdiep: a group of enthusiastic volunteers who like to convey their love of nature and landscape to our visitors.
Job tasks and duties
The hosts open the visitor centre and shop, ensure that the day runs smoothly and are committed to making visitors stay enjoyable. They always work in pairs and their main task is to provide visitors with information about the flora, fauna and cultural history of the area and the activities taking place in and around the visitor centre. Selling various articles from the shop is also part of their task, as are other common activities such as hiring out bicycles.
We expect an active attitude from the hosts and a commitment of 2 half-days per month. Work is mainly on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Occasionally, the visitor centre is also open on Wednesdays. Of course, as a new host, you will receive an induction period with a link to an experienced host.
Job skills and qualities
We are looking for people with a flexible attitude and some organisational ability to cope with unexpected situations. It is nice if you have global knowledge of flora, fauna or cultural history. Specialist knowledge is not required. However, enthusiasm for the area and willingness to develop your knowledge is required. Being able to work with internet and e-mail is a requirement. And do you also have good social skills, enthusiasm and the willingness to work in a team? Then we would like to hear from you!
