Through this vacancy, you will join Place the World as a Directing Kitchen volunteer. We are an educational activity centre around living close to nature and the multicoloured world.
You will find us in the heart of Vries (North Drenthe). Village Lunch and Village Dinner

Place the World organises two meals every month: the Village Lunch and Village Dinner. With vegetables from the village garden and the conviviality of 'together' at the table. Everyone is welcome! At the Village Lunch, the emphasis is on cooking and eating together. At the Dorpsdiners, people from Vries and surroundings cook to enjoy meeting each other and eating delicious (international) food.

For the preparation and cooking of the lunch, everyone is welcome.

To prepare and cook these meals, we are looking for a managing kitchen assistant. The tasks and skills involved in this volunteer vacancy are described below.

Job tasks and duties

Organise the village lunch and village dinner (on fixed dates)

  • Menu planning (Completing the menu format)
  • Preparation: making shopping list, shopping (or organising ingredients from the garden), communicating with other volunteers
  • Coordinating cooking: preparing cooking utensils, welcoming participants, giving instructions with the recipes (at Village Lunch)

This task requires commitment of one half-day twice a month, one from 14-19.30h (Village Dinner) and one from 9-13h (Village Lunch). In addition, several hours of preparation time for meal planning and design.
