Project: Welding and steel work on small historic sailing boat on care farm

Stichting De Weide Blik • job opening nr. 14036

Interesting about this job

You will work on a small original Grouster Sail Schouw at De Weide Blik's Apprenticeship Workshop.

The participants of our Leer-Werkbedrijf have already picked up most of the paint work themselves over the past few years and can also paint the gunwale after assembly.

Job tasks and duties

Welding and grinding work on the rim of the sailboat. (Possible follow-up job, making wooden decking for inside the boat.)

The bumper on both sides from front to back, has not yet been fitted. There are some holes where the bumper should be (previously nailed?). The present steel strips can, in our view, be welded over this.

The hull is also in paint where these bumpers should be fitted, a strip bare first, seems necessary.

There are original construction drawings available and a follow-up job could be the manufacture of wood decking, these are still missing.

Job skills and qualities

Experience with Steelworking (preferably in shipbuilding).

Steelworking skills, Independence in job order possibly bring your own specific required tools if needed. Small welding equipment available.

For follow-up job possibly also Woodworking skills, this by agreement, not necessary.

Extra information

You work in the shed on the premises of the Leer-Werkbedrijf. Participants will probably like to come and have a look at what you are doing. Affinity with the target group would be nice, but not necessary.
