In this voluntary work, no day is the same. Every day you see the course members gain more self-confidence because you help them with your knowledge and attention. You are part of a team of teachers and volunteers and you all have the same goal in mind, to help the course participants get on their way in the Netherlands as well as possible, by teaching them the Dutch language and customs.
Job tasks and duties
As a volunteer at Stavoor, you will help status holders find their way in the Netherlands. You will help them learn the Dutch language. The volunteer works together with the teacher. The teacher divides the tasks and the volunteer will read, write or do a speaking assignment with a small group of course members.
Language you don't just learn from a book, at Stavoor extracurricular activities are also part of education.
Minimum education level: havo/vwo
Job skills and qualities
- Open to other cultures.
- Empathy.
- Sense of humour.
- Being sociable.
- Patience.
- It's great if you have a background in education, but if you don't, but have a heart for the target group, you'll also go a long way. We don't throw you in at the deep end, the teachers always help you and you are never alone in front of a group.
Extra information
We work at various locations in the city of Groningen, currently there is a need for volunteers at the van Oldebarneveldlaan location, but other locations are always negotiable. Other parts of the day too.
