Do you like beautiful gardens, have green fingers and enjoy working with others in the outdoors? Then you've come to the right place at De Buitenplaats in Eelde! We are looking for volunteers to strengthen the existing garden group for the maintenance of De Buitenplaats's beautiful garden. We offer you the following:
- A fun volunteer position in one of the most beautiful gardens in (northern) Holland.
- Receipt of the quarterly magazine and the volunteer newsletter of Het Drentse Landschap.
- Invitations to the volunteer outings organised by Het Drentse Landschap.
- Educations and training, appropriate to the work.
- A liability and collective accident insurance.
- An expense allowance for commuting costs (maximum 30 km one way).
- Company clothing on loan.
Job tasks and duties
The garden group usually meets on Tuesdays to work on the garden. A variety of garden work is carried out, varying according to the season. In particular, we are looking for reinforcement for the following work:
- Trimming trees, such as in the orchard.
- Trimming hedges and shrubs (topiary).
- Maintenance of a 'green roof' (Sedum).
- Mowing grass and weeding.
We are particularly looking for volunteers for one or more of the above activities.
- But of course other work can also be carried out in consultation.
Job skills and qualities
- You have an affinity with (historical) gardens and preferably some knowledge or experience of garden maintenance.
- Having a VCA or BHV certificate is recommended.
- You are physically able to perform the work well.
- You have an open attitude towards guests visiting the garden and you like to talk about working in the garden.
- You enjoy working with other volunteers, but you can also work well independently.
- You are available one day a week (usually Tuesdays).
- You are happy to participate in education/training for performing the volunteer role.
