The UCP (University Centre Psychiatry) provides top referral care for adults in the Northern Netherlands region and aims to offer people with psychiatric disorders the best psychiatric diagnostics and treatment. The UCP's new location will open in June 2024.
A visit to the hospital is often exciting for people. That is why the UCP aims to provide a welcoming reception for patients and visitors where uncertainties such as finding your way around are removed by a proactive approach from volunteers who are present in the hall of the UCP. The UCP's new building is a building where the patient feels welcome. Transparent and open and you feel safe there. A building with its own recognisable main entrance that is easy to find.
Job tasks and duties
You:
- Welcome patients and visitors.
- Offer a cup of coffee or tea to waiting patients.
- Assist patients at the registration desk.
- Help patiëns, guests and visitors to find their way.
- Assist patients in paying (via pin module on machine) for the (delicious) coffee.
- Make sure the hall and patio (terrace outside) look tidy.
- Call trolleys grounds transport.
- Distribute mail and reading folders.
Job skills and qualities
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Good command of the Dutch language both verbally and in writing.
- At least available for 1 year.
- Affinity with healthcare and volunteering (this is a conscious choice)
- Able to perform physical work (you are in good physical condition)
- Good communication skills.
- Representative.
- Able to work solo and independently but also able to collaborate in a team.
- Able to be available at least one half-day per week.
- To be able to deal with patients with psychiatric vulnerability.
Extra information
Two volunteers will start at the samen time in the central hall during the opening of the UCP's new location. This will be in the week of 3 June 2024. The first two months we will start with a morning and an afternoon shift on all weekdays. The team will partly consist of experienced volunteers who will retire after the first phase. After 2 months a follow-up will be considered.
