You will become part of a team of volunteers in a place that is different every month. There is also a monthly grand opening. You get to know artists and are in touch with art a lot. Galerie Noord is an oasis of peace and freedom, where you can take a break from everyday reality and interact with interested visitors. All creativity is welcome: we want as much activity in the gallery as possible, so feel free to share your ideas.
Job tasks and duties
- As a board member, you are jointly responsible for the strategy and survival of Gallery North.
- You are responsible for all cash flows, monthly administration, contracts and financial agreements with our artists and annual accounts.
- Your ambition is to keep our foundation financially sound.
- Currently, our financialële situation is stable.
- There are always challenges and we would like to reassess our long-term course with you.
Minimum education level: hbo/wo

Are you proficient in financialële administration and want to join a foundation as a board member? Are you interested in people, in art and curious about all the other volunteers working with us? Would you like to help us stay on a healthy course and keep our space available for the arts in Groningen? Do you enjoy having a bit of fun with others? Then we're looking for you!
Extra information
Galerie Noord is an exhibition space in the heart of Groningen. Every four weeks we offer artists the opportunity to show recent work. We focus on autonomous, experimental and investigative work in almost all disciplines. We want to surprise visitors. Galerie Noord started in 1997 as an artists' initiative and is run entirely by volunteers. We are a foundation.
We are open Wednesday to Sunday, from 1pm to 5pm. You will fill your role at your own discretion. There is a monthly meeting with all volunteers. The board currently consists of a chairman, a brand-new secretary and a treasurer. The treasurer is quitting on 1 May 2024 and is happy to take you on. We are therefore looking for an immediate position.
