Interesting about this job
As a language volunteer at the asylum seekers centre, you come into contact with many different cultures. People from Syria, Yemen and Turkey live at Europaweg, but also people from Columbia, China and Nigeria, for example. The target group is therefore very diverse. In addition, we give you a lot of space to give your own interpretation to the lessons, as long as it has to do with learning the Dutch language. In the past, for instance, we have also had volunteers who have spent a lesson on a city walk through Groningen or who, in the context of learning Dutch food, have cooked a lesson together. This is obviously not a requirement, but just what you think is fun!
Job tasks and duties
We will talk to you as a volunteer to see what is comfortable for you. Think about the group size (often between 6 - 15 people) and the composition of the group (men and/or women). You will teach basic Dutch to your group, at least once a week. This can be based on existing teaching material, but if you have your own ideas, we are open to that as well.
Job skills and qualities
Good command of the Dutch language.
