Talking buddy

Talk buddies are called Talk buddies with us for a reason. They are people who like to chat. They are more than language coaches; they are sociable conversation partners!
With us it's not just about hammering on the d's and t's. It's about having a fun conversation about things you are interested in!
Why are we looking for this? Many of the women at Vanhulley mainly speak their mother tongue at home. That is why we think it is extra important for them to be able to speak Dutch at Vanhulley, in a pleasant and relaxed manner.

Intent:
The idea is that the Praatmaatjes support the women with the Dutch language in a way that suits both you and the woman. For example, a newspaper article can serve as a basis for the lesson or you can pick up a language book. But just a nice conversation, for instance about the children's school, culture, music, food, etc. it's all possible! So you are more ‘buddy’ than language coach. Vanhulley has teaching materials with language assignments and booklets on certain themes. Every woman has a different approach, it is really tailor-made. So it can be filled in as you see fit. Should this be difficult, we can of course help.

Location: 
The location is in Vanhulley's studio (Metaallaan 255 in Groningen). Other options are a walk (in the city) or meeting on location. This can be in a public space. Or possibly, in consultation, at the woman's place or at your home.

The duration of your contact:
We schedule one hour of Dutch conversation class for all women who need it. They indicate this themselves. Vanhulley then schedules a first introductory meeting with you of about 45 minutes. We then preferably pick a fixed time during the week.

• The Dutch language 
• Women with a difficult position in the labour market.
• Women with a migrant background.
