At ecological care farm De Mikkelhorst in Haren, people with disabilities or specific needs work together with our committed supervisors and volunteers. Around 75 volunteers work at De Mikkelhorst. They work in the garden, maintain the premises, help in the country shop, behind the reception or the bar and at weekends volunteers take care of the animals.
Volunteers find it pleasant, beautiful, positive and there is a lot to do at De Mikkelhorst. In 2018, we won the Provincial Volunteer Award! We are therefore very proud of all our volunteers and appreciate their efforts enormously!
Job tasks and duties
We are looking for a volunteer for our Garden Working Group to help grow and process oyster mushrooms. About a year ago, we started our 'Swammery' and after some practice and bumbling, the growing is now going very well. So well in fact that we could use some help. The work involves mixing the coffee grounds and spawn, filling and hanging the bags and picking the fungi in the dark room. Afterwards, the oyster mushrooms are sold in the shop. You will also help process the surplus for our Vega shoarma or Vega sausages.
Job skills and qualities
You will work together with a participant(s) in the day care who know the cultivation process well. It is therefore important in this vacancy that you enjoy working with all kinds of people and that you can adapt well to them, take into account their request for help and that you can perform the work with gilt.
