Interesting about this job
Cooperate in the progress of the neighbourhood, in the broadest sense.
Job tasks and duties
The neighborhood council Oosterhoogebrug / Ulgersmaborg (WOU) is a consultative body for both neighbourhoods, consisting of a chairman, secretary, treasurer and several more board members (all neighbourhood residents). They help the municipality to work in an area-specific way by being a discussion partner, representing the interests of all neighbourhood residents.
The board members do so without remuneration, they are not employed by the Municipality, thus remaining independent. The Municipality does provide subsidies to facilitate neighbourhood council work. It does so to promote the democratic process and thus ultimately increase citizen satisfaction. A win-win situation is created by working together constructively. The Municipality informs the neighbourhood council about developments that may affect the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood council responds to these and tries to adjust these developments where necessary.
The neighbourhood council is not a conduit or a complaints bureau. If possible, a problem is solved together with the submitting party. If necessary, the district council puts district residents in contact with the appropriate municipal officials. District residents can individually report complaints about public space (such as loose paving stones) directly to the municipality, for example via SlimMelden.
A neighbourhood council deals with the following issues:
- public space ('green and grey')
- traffic
- social issues (such as youth work, care for the elderly, events and activities)
- citizen participation (encouraging local residents to think with us and/or develop initiatives in their own neighbourhood)
- information of and communication with local residents (via the community newspaper Brugborgvizier)
Minimum education level: havo/vwo
