From Humanitas we always try to make a suitable pairing, for example on the basis of hobbies or interests. This creates nice contact that benefits the participant and also gives you energy and satisfaction as a volunteer.

  • Accident insurance during the contact moments with the participant.

Job tasks and duties

The buddy project is for adults (aged 18 and over) with a psychiatric background or mild intellectual disability. These are people who live independently or under a form of sheltered or assisted living.
For some, it is difficult to connect with society. They feel misunderstood, abandoned or anxious. Sometimes it is difficult to take the initiative themselves or to go out on their own. We are therefore looking for people who want to become a buddy.

A buddy is not a social worker but just someone who is there for a participant. Doing some shopping, going into town, going for a walk or cycling, for example; together you can see what suits you. But of course it is also about the chat and offering a listening ear.

Job skills and qualities

  • You offer equal human-to-human contact, where it is important that you have an affinity with the target group and a strong character.
  • You show initiative to do something fun together.
  • You expect to commit yourself for a year.
