Summer shelter volunteer

Some children from the provinces of Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe are unable to go on holiday for medical, financial or social reasons. Especially for these children, Humanitas organises special holiday weeks during the summer holidays. A team of volunteers undertakes activities with the children, takes care of the programme and offers them an enjoyable holiday with fun activities, relaxation and contact with other children. A total of 10 weeks are organised, two of which are for children who could use some extra guidance. This vacancy is especially for those two weeks.
There are various volunteer positions around the children's holiday weeks, both in the organisation, preparation and implementation. In each week there are 2 volunteers who form the main leadership. They are ultimately responsible for all the ins and outs of the holiday week. They are there for the volunteers and ensure the smooth running of organisational affairs during the holiday week. Very important, of course, are volunteers who spend time with the children during the holiday week; each volunteer has a group of 2 children under his/her care. We are looking for:
Volunteer leaders for summer childcare, the tasks:

• You are the first point of contact for the children and sometimes a confidant.
• You enjoy thinking up, organising and carrying out activities together with others.
• You ensure a nice and relaxed atmosphere, so that the children have a wonderful holiday week.
• You will inform the main leadership of relevant events.
• You are available for at least one week during the summer.

• You are youthful by nature and enjoy working with children.
• You are aware of extreme behaviour and have tools to deal with it from work/internship experience.
• You have an affinity with the core values of Humanitas.
• You are sociable, driven and know how to enthuse and motivate people.
• You make contact easily.
• You are observant and have a great sense of responsibility.
• You are creative, inventive and patient, but can also intervene and act.
• You are willing to undergo relevant training for this position.
• You are at least 18 years old.
• An application for Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is mandatory.
