Job tasks and duties
A faint, a concussion, a haemorrhage or alcohol poisoning. You come across all kinds of things during an event. Will you spring into action when someone needs immediate help? Then sign up with the Red Cross in Groningen as a volunteer aid worker.
As an aid worker you are trained for unexpected situations. Is someone injured? You keep a cool head and take responsibility. We are looking for volunteers for the various assistance activities of the Red Cross throughout the province of Groningen.
During events such as the 4-Mile, the Night of Winschoten, Delfsail and King's Day and in times of emergency, you and your team are on standby. You will carry out these emergency activities together with your colleagues from the Emergency Response Team.
Job skills and qualities
Our ideal aid worker:
- Is 18 years of age or older
- Has a valid, comprehensive Red Cross first aid certificate or is willing to obtain one
- Provides regular assistance at events
- Makes time to attend education and training courses to keep skills up to date
- Demonstrates emergency response during crisis situations
- Comes into action quickly if something happens and is flexible
- Is stress-resistant and has resilience
- Able to listen, empathise and responsive to victims' needs
- Subscribes to the Red Cross basic principles and code of conduct
