Participants of the Taalhuis often have difficulties with Dutch language, maths or digital skills. You will help them with these. Working with inquisitive adults is fun and rewarding! You are enormously important to the other person in improving his or her language and therefore also promote the participant's independence and self-confidence.
Together with the participant matched to you, you agree when you will meet, so you decide the time.
Beforehand, you will receive training on how to deal with the target group and how to approach the coaching. During the coaching, you can always contact your Language House coordinator.
Job tasks and duties
- You will independently accompany someone who has difficulties with the Dutch language in a Taalhuis.
- Before assisting, you will receive an interesting four-day training. During the training, the following topics are covered: target group and backgrounds, guidance in speaking skills, guidance in reading, guidance in writing.
- Learning materials are available in the Language Centre.
- You will receive guidance from a Taalhuis coordinator.
- If you identify any bottlenecks in the participant's trajectory, report this proactively to your Language House coordinator.
Minimum education level: mbo
Job skills and qualities
We are looking for volunteers who are proficient in the Dutch language and enjoy working with (non-native) adults.
A language volunteer:- Has patience.
- Has an interest in other people and cultures.
- Enjoys working with the Dutch language and culture.
- Has enthusiasm to motivate others to learn the language and participate.
- Can improvise.
- Is open to feedback.
- Can work independently.
